It begins as an ordinary day at work at a substation for truth and logic while Cranelak awakens and prepares to resume work on his latest musical composition when, by some happenstance, a monstrous memory escapes from the high security detainment facility and wreaks havoc while leaving a trail of destructive residue in its wake.

The music impelled itself to be composed. Cranelak became the vehicle through whom it would be expressed. This book is a literary expose’ filled with symbolic anachronism coupled with quaint charm of an unassuming nature to allow the reader to participate vicariously while enjoying a plethora of illustrations.

After the memory monster is subdued a writer’s block attacks the substation and causes even more destruction and delay. The little shovellers are then sent on a mission which is essential for the restoration of a logical sense of order to the inner workings of things so that Cranelak can continue to make progress in his work.

As an accumulation of events builds to an inevitable conclusion the little shovellers are again sent to accomplish another difficult task where they must figure out how to proceed without adequate instructions and once again find themselves in a most unlikely situation.

Almost as if it were a prank, to the delight of their supervisors, the girl shovellers are sent on a mission fraught with confusion and frustration only to find out later of the significance and bearing their efforts would yield.

The little shovellers find themselves unsupervised one morning and proceed to engage in, what should have been, some harmless mischief when things get out of control. They are then “volunteered” for a most unpleasant assignment into the nether region at the bottom of the world.
